EDKEY is Hiring a Physical Education Teacher 24/25 Near Mesa, AZ

POSITION OVERVIEW

About the Position

 To develop in each child an understanding of the relationship of good body function and exercise; to motivate each pupil to cultivate physical fitness hygienic habits and good social and emotional adjustment; to discover and develop talents of pupils in physical achievement; to develop strength, skill, agility, poise and coordination in individual and group activities in accordance with each pupil's ability. To assist the total staff in providing students with an efficient, comfortable environment in which to learn, play and develop in keeping with Sequoia’s Health and Wellness Policies.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

Experience

  • 1 year of teaching experience

Or

Combined education and experience qualifications

  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year for year basis.

Other Requirements

  • Must Possess or have the ability to possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card by the time of hire.

Preferred Requirements

  • Possess a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

  • Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness and health / wellness education (see Health and Wellness Policy for Sequoia Schools). Works with Consumer Economics, Nurse and Health and Wellness personnel to ensure fidelity of the Health and Physical Education Program.
  • Analyzes, demonstrates and explains basic skills, knowledge of, and strategies of sports, games, rhythms and fundamentals of body movement.
  • Evaluates each pupil's growth in physical skills and knowledge (See Physical Education Protocols and Curriculum Map).
  • Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems. The physical education teacher is a member of the academic faculty and as such supports classroom activities and curriculum goals by coordinating activities with the classroom teachers.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment for physical education, constantly monitoring student activities and equipment usage.
  • Promotes proper care and use of all equipment. Storing and preserving physical education resources. Respects PE areas and adjacent spaces (i.e. weight room, coaches room).
  • Initiates, completes personnel, professional development, and attendance documentation as required by administration.
  • Successfully completes and utilizes training, workshops or courses as required by administration.
  • Performs other duties as required by department head and administration.

Working Conditions

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, crouch, bend, walking up and down stairs/ramps, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
