PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Assistant Principal will work harmoniously and effectively with parents, staff members, students and administrators in accomplishing the goals as set forth by district policies in relation to his/her particular campus.
He/she will be directly responsible to the principal for all aspects of administration and instructional leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
TEA certification requirements
Mid management/principal certification required
Three years successful teaching experience required
Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) Appraiser
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Serve as principal in the absence of the regular principal.
Prepare special reports for the principal.
Work with school staff in planning, evaluating, and supervising the instructional programs in all areas.
Make recommendations to the principal on matters of curriculum and personnel.
Compile data for reports to state or federal agencies as assigned.
Assists in conducting safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
Prepare requisitions for supplies, textbooks, and equipment and conduct inventories, maintain records, and accrued receipts for such materials.
Coordinate with principal functions for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
Confer with pupils and/or parents regarding discipline, academic progress, co-curricular activities and other matters to be related to the success of students.
Monitor pupil attendance and file truancy when applicable.
Review student referrals for special activities and/or social services; e.g. attendance, health, clothing, suspensions.
Assist in curriculum revisions, Benchmark assessments and evaluations.
Represent the school in community functions as per Principal’s directive.
Perform record-keeping functions as directed by the principal.
Work with parents, faculty and student groups as needed in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school to supervise and evaluate the performance of staff assigned to campus including teacher(s), counselor(s), Librarian(s), instructional aides, clerical support staff, custodians and others as assigned.
Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions; frequently work long and irregular hours; occasional district wide travel required; attend out of state, state, and local conferences as directed
