Edgewater* Technical Associates* is seeking qualified candidates for a* Project Construction Manager – PMCS opportunity located at the Savannah River Site.*

Project Construction Manager - PMCS

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with numerous diverse construction project teams to provide direction and establish priorities needed to integrate numerous ongoing area projects.
  • Initiate and deliver concise and accurate oral and written presentations to internal and external customers regarding project implementation plans, status, changes, and new approaches, including complex technical, organizational, and financial issues.
  • Conduct significantly complex analysis of problems involving numerous engineering disciplines.
  • Develop new and innovative alternative action strategies enabling the early achievement of milestones.
  • Perform risk analyses and provide decision authority for defining and approving corrective actions and establishing priorities.
  • Manage project efforts to ensure project progress is within schedule, cost, technical, environmental, and legal baselines.
  • Act as a construction project management advisor to management teams, piers, less experienced managers, engineers, and external customers.
  • Review vendor data, instruction manuals, and other technical data to ensure project constructability issues are minimized.
  • Work with other functional groups such as engineering, planning, procurement, and construction to review and recommend specific actions to facilitate constructability.
  • Lead and advocate for constructability principles and work with auxiliary groups to teach constructability concepts, best practices, construction details and lessons learned.
  • Resolve substantial quality control and quality assurance issues and recommend corrective action if necessary.
  • Foster a "team concept" when interfacing with Construction, Operations, and Customers.
  • Attend scheduled and unscheduled meetings, provide reports and status of construction activities, and identify and resolve complex problems.
  • Review and approve job plans, permits, material requisitions for capital expenditures, schedules / schedule changes and miscellaneous other documents ensuring accuracy practicality, economics, and impact on other projects.
  • Identify and act on engineering and material restraints to critical jobs through meetings, discussions, reports and verifies that proper tools are in place to clear restraints.
  • Obtain safety training, obey safety rules, and make safety an integral part of each task (expectations include taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition).

Education/General Experience:

  • Must meet at least one of the following: 1) Technical Bachelor of Science degree and at least eleven to thirteen (11-13) years of related experience, 2) Technical Associate degree and at least thirteen to fifteen (13-15) years of related experience, 3) High School Diploma / GED and at least fifteen to eighteen (15-18) years of related experience.

Experience/Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Piping and Mechanical National Codes and Standards, including ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1 and/or NFPA 101.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of nuclear experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Construction methods, practices, and procedures for a particular discipline and a working knowledge of other construction disciplines.
  • Provide valuable input to designs regarding constructability, beginning in the conceptual design phase.
  • Experience with layout of equipment, piping, and commodities, including creating and reviewing 3D models, P&IDs, and other drawings to ensure constructability of designs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences and to establish and maintain strong and effective customer relations.
  • Ability to mentor other construction personnel and engineers on completing effective design reviews to prevent required design changes in the construction phase.
  • Ability to understand the larger picture, set and communicate expectations, goals, and objectives such that successful planning for projects is achievable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possessed an active DOE clearance (“L” or “Q”) within the past two (2) years.

Other Job Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
