Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for an Environmental Scientist (Sustainability and Climate Data Analyst) opportunity for our customer, UCOR, in Oak Ridge, TN.
UCOR is the lead cleanup contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE) Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management.

REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related science, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Entry-level position to 4 years of relevant experience required.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will serve as environmental sustainability and climate data analyst assigned to the environmental & regulatory programs.
  • Provides day-to-day sustainability and climate data analysis and management support to sustainability programs to ensure DOE and Company objectives are met or exceeded
  • Develops and conducts assessments of Company processes and activities to measure and monitor environmental impacts and effectiveness of Environmental Management Systema and sustainability and climate management measures such as energy and water consumption and production of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Participates in the planning, implementation, and closure of projects to provide recommendations for improved sustainability and climate resilience measures
  • Administrates timely collection of accurate and complete sustainability data for reporting of significant environmental indicators and performance, including accumulating and trending data and developing narrative for internal and external reports
  • Oversees and designs tests and field investigations to obtain sustainability data for use by the Company in determining sources and methods of controlling greenhouse gas emissions and minimizing water and energy consumption.
  • Interprets and correlates data to make technological and procedural recommendations for continual improvements to environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
  • Utilizes knowledge of Greenhouse Gas Protocol, energy and water audits, meteorology, engineering principles and other applied sciences, technologies, and methodologies to quantify the impact of Company environmental aspects.
  • Identifies local climate projections using nationally recognized and DOE recommended climate data resources and characterizes and recommends mitigative and adaptive measures to be implemented in response to potential future extreme climate events.
  • Accumulates and maintains accurate and current data on environmental sustainability indicators and performance and prepares summaries, charts, and presentations for review.
  • Designs sustainability and climate management metrics and trends significant environmental indicators. Reports trends to supervision.
  • Oversees environmental monitoring equipment where applicable.
  • Serves as a technical and policy advisor to management and provides recommendations on matters relating to environmental sustainability.
  • Completes work assignments with a high level of personal accountability, teamwork, initiative, and quality
  • Familiar with established policies, methods, and practices of the Company
  • Maintains knowledge of safety policies and procedures and performs assigned duties in a safe manner, and, if supervising others, has responsibility for the safety of those being supervised; and ensures they comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits.
  • Develop and maintain written procedures for environmental assessment and sustainability performance monitoring and measurement
  • Maintains the qualifications and training, needed to perform the job function
  • Work closely with Pollution Prevention Coordinator, Environmental Compliance Leads, Supply Chain, and Integration personnel, and other personnel to identify innovative opportunities for continual improvement.
  • Performs other environmental tasks, as assigned
  • 4 years of related experience preferred
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 environmental management standard preferred
  • Certified Energy Manager preferred
