Edgerton Care Center is looking for a Full-Time Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our team!

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A graduate of an approved education course for occupational therapy assistants.
  • Licensed, if applicable, in the state in which they will be practicing.
  • Demonstrate professional attitude and appearance.
  • Proficient administrative and communication within department and facility and company.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in the practice of their discipline.
  • Thorough knowledge of all payer source documentation and payment requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to walk, sit, stand, stoop, squat, bend, lift, push, pull, balance, and perform overhead activity without restriction or limitation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must uphold the professional, legal and ethical standards of practice for occupational therapy as defined by the AOTA and State Practice Act
  • Responsible for service and operational excellence of all assigned activities to ensure the delivery of quality services and/or outcomes required to meet or exceed the expectations of those utilizing or impacted by the department.
  • Creates and maintains a patient record for each patient treated
  • Performs selected occupational therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of the occupational therapist.
  • Obtains data related to the interventions provided
  • Makes modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient/client as directed by the occupational therapist or to ensure patient/client safety and comfort.
  • Carries out the d/c plan as determined by the OTR
  • Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate application of precautions and contraindications to occupational therapy treatment procedures and modalities
  • Completes documentation according to Facility policies including timeliness and medical necessity support
  • Maintains communication with the supervising OTR
  • Participates in supervisory visits with the supervising OTR as required by the State Practice Act
  • Requests re-examinations from the supervising OTR when a change in patient status is identified
  • Adheres to state, federal, and third-party billing regulations
  • Participates in quality and process improvement activities in the department as outlined by the manager/
  • director
  • Partners with multi-disciplinary team to carry out the plan of care and advocate for patient
  • Demonstrates effective interdisciplinary communication regarding patient treatments and discharge planning.
  • Cooperates with all facility and corporate departments
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information.
  • Must be able to relate professionally, positively, and cooperatively with patients, patients’ family members, and other employees at all levels.
  • Promotes and supports the Compliance Program by acting consistently through Facility Code of Conduct and leading by example.
  • Participates in continuous survey readiness department and facility activities
  • Ability to make effective use of available resources including time, people, materials and financial resources.
  • Ability to define problems/issues in a non-threatening, straightforward, non-accusatory manner and demonstrate ability to propose solution and execute plan.
  • Promotes and participates in Facility (as choice employer) activities which may include:
    • Interview Candidates
    • In-services to Customers
    • Marketing
  • Employee retention activities
  • Manage change effectively by anticipating, sensing and responding effectively and revise strategies and plans as appropriate.
  • Maintain knowledge of Medicare Policies and Regulations, LCDs, and NCDs that directly impact care provided in Facility
  • Always presents with a professional appearance and attitude
  • Adheres to facility dress code if applicable
  • Participates in in-service training and completes all mandatory training within designated time frame
  • Maintains a clean, safe and professional department
  • Assure that all rehab billing and labor entries are complete, accurate and timely
  • Promotes positive customer relations
  • Participates in census building and marketing activities
  • Demonstrates ability for continuous new learning to remain current in the field
  • Participates in clinical program development and implementation
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned
  • Maintain productivity at or above baseline expectations set by the facility
