ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet® designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people.

Position Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs clinical laboratory tests by standard operating policies and procedures. As a MLT, you are required to understand method principles, performs quality control & calibrations, performs preventive maintenance, and analyzes results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits.

Minimum Requirements

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or currently enrolled in an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science Program (BS) and have completed the specific laboratory rotation (e.g. Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Transfusion Services)

• Equivalent laboratory training and/or work experience with the US military (2 years) will meet the education requirement

Preferred:

• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency

Other Information

• 40 hours a week

• Monday - Friday (3 pm - 11:30 pm)

• Required to work rotational weekends every 3rd week
