The flagship ECU Health Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center, and ECU Health Maynard Children's Hospital serve as the primary teaching hospitals for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health and the Brody School of Medicine share a combined academic mission to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina through patient care, education and research.

Position Summary

Responsible for quality improvement, human resource management, staff development, financial management, program planning, collaboration with the State of NC Vital Records and the NC Office of the Medical Examiner, clinical research, and establishes policies, processes and metrics to assess the effectiveness of operational practices related to decedent care. In addition responsible for the coordination and disposition of all matters of Decedent Care services to deceased patients and families by the Decedent Affairs Office (DAO).

Minimum Requirements

Requirements

  • Master's degree required.
  • Minimum of five years of supervisory experience and health-related experience required.
  • Knowledge of state and federal statutes and regulatory requirements pertaining to declaration of death, organ donation and post-mortem care, including autopsy and Medical
  • Examine referrals and related documentation required.

Preferred Requirements

  • Social Work and/Hospitality background and experience preferred.
  • Decedent Care background and experience or post-mortem related experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience working with people and providing exemplary service preferred.

Other Information

Shift: Rotating 7am and 7pm including nights and weekends
