Deputy Director of Hosmer and STEPS – Supports the our Mentoring Staff at our co-sheltering and scatted sites locations in upholding all contractual Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (HLC) and EMPath policies and procedures. Mentoring and supporting the team’s efforts to create and deliver high quality programmatic services using a trauma sensitive, coaching, and child centered orientation; and to develop and implement all participant community activities. Partnering with the Senior Director in the day-to-day operations of Hosmer and STEPS including program development, program oversight, staff recruitment, hiring, training schedules, supervision and management.

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director all aspects of the program to ensure a safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive environment for families.
  • Ensure program compliance with regulatory standards, including responsibility of monitoring database systems for quality of and timeliness of data entry
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to direct service staff of all policies, procedures, participant information, etc.
  • Responsible for weekly direct supervision and coaching of Program Mentors at Hosmer and STEPS.
  • Audit relevant Mobility Mentoring work happening within the program by reviewing Mentor case notes and comparing those to mentor/participant engagement and progressiveness
  • Carry a caseload of up to three participants and provide -program mentoring coverage to participants as needed in order to remain current with changes, new tools, and requirements, and increase ability to provide feedback on training and model development, as well as to provide programmatic coverage.
  • Coordinate all HLC required trainings in CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse, etc. and verify completion.
  • Partner with Senior Director to conduct the weekly team meetings.
  • In conjunction with Senior Director, develop and implement program policies and procedures for effective and efficient execution of services.
  • Partner with Senior Director for the operation of the staff case assignments, staff scheduling assignments and completion of bi-weekly payroll.
  • Implement staff training needs and develop and implement effective staff orientation, on-boarding and training to ensure delivery of high-quality services. Provide support and ensure staff participate in at least 40 hours of internal training annually.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure the smooth operations of facilities. 
  • Represent EMPath at internal and external meetings when requested in addition to cultivating new and managing current external partnerships.
  • Provide on-call support to staff with back-up coverage if necessary on designated nights and weekends on rotation with other residential managers.
  • Partner with MME Exchange to provide consultation to; and facilitate internal and external EMPath trainings and presentations for Exchange Members.

What traits do you need to be successful in this role? 

  • BA in related field required, MA preferred.
  • Two plus years of supervisory experience.
  • Two plus years of experience working in a residential facility required
  • Experience working with a diverse population of women and children.
  • Knowledge of issues related to domestic violence, mental health and substance abuse.
  • Knowledge of child development and parenting support.
  • Experience with de-escalation, crisis management, mediation and safety planning.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, including demonstrated skills in successful conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and some weekends 
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office products.
  • Bi-lingual skills strongly preferred 
  • Knowledge of hiring practices and labor laws
  • Understanding of budgets and program implementation and assessment

Pay transparency: This role is range is $65,000 to $70,000 annually
