Department: Materials Management

Summary: This position is responsible for coordinating all activities related to the procurement and planning of material needed to support Production, including follow-through of orders to delivery. Buyer/Material Planner monitors material flow to identify bottlenecks or potential problems and expedite or de-expedite orders as needed based on requirements.

Essential Functions of the Job: The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the following:

• Develop material requirements delivery schedule based on review of MRP and prepare purchase orders to meet that schedule.
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain timely arrival of materials to meet production needs required for on-time delivery of finished goods to customers.
• Ensure materials meet specifications and quality standards.
• Discuss defective or unacceptable goods with inspection or quality control personnel to determine source of issue and corrective action.
• Assure that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price and meets the quality standards of the company.
• Maintain timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.
• Follow up on late purchase order deliveries as necessary.
• Manage inventory issues, schedule changes and cancellations.
• Monitor unacknowledged purchase orders.
• Process purchase orders and order receipts paperwork as necessary.
• Attend morning Production meeting daily and outage coordination and schedule review meetings as needed.
• Maintain and foster relationships with existing vendors to promote on time delivery and fast recovery times with effective communication from suppliers to internal teams when issues do arise.
• Demonstrate knowledge of total cost of ownership
• Use the following software programs while performing the job: MAC-PAC, Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Recommended Education and/or Experience

• Associates Degree in a related field; or minimum two years related experience; or combination of the two.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
