Ebenezer is Hiring an Assistant Administrator Near Bloomington, MN

Overview

Ensures the quality of patient/resident care, services, and outcomes. Integrates nursing functions with other disciplines to ensure a team approach to the holistic care of the patients/residents that is consistent with the Ebenezer philosophy. Has a strategic approach to maintaining standards within Ebenezer. Under the direction of the Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, assures the efficiency and effectiveness of the skilled nursing facility through leadership and management.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Ensure the quality and clinical compliance of nursing care for residents:

  • Assists with the development of policies and procedures to ensure they reflect current clinical practices, and they promote quality nursing care is delivered to residents.
  • Collaborates with Social Services to determine if potential residents’ needs can be met.
  • Ensures the nursing system opportunities for improvement are identified through ex; resident grievances, tracking forms, pharmacy audits, resident council, interviews, MDS, Roster, Analytics data is discussed in the QAPI meetings per policies and procedures.
  • Ensures the resident preadmission assessment, admission, and discharge planning meets the triple aim (Improving resident health /practicable well-being, lower costs, better care).
  • Oversees, and ensures nursing evaluations are completed at least annually.
  • Supports Ebenezer Corporate standards and ensures implementation at site level.
  • Collects data and audits systems /processes to ensure regulatory compliance and excellence.
  • Ensures CMS regulations are implemented and followed throughout the facility.
  • Monitors health care activity continuously and reports to Interdisciplinary Team any areas of opportunity from the data collected. This includes but not limited to; Quality Metrics/Quality Indicators, Data Analytics, Casper Report, Roster, 5 Star, Nursing Home Compare website, and Ebenezer Critical Success Factors.
  • Participates in the implementation of a process that collects, and analyzes health services data, identifies trends, institutes actions to resolve system problems promptly, evaluates effectiveness of these actions and ensure sustainably.
  • Oversees nursing site compliance not limited to; federal and state regulations, OSHA regulations, MN Board of Nursing, HIPAA.
  • Participates in Vulnerable Adult investigations and ensures compliance of Ebenezer policy and procedure.
  • Participates in on call rotation-per facility policy.

Administer, direct, and coordinate activities for the Health Care Facility with support from the Licensed Nursing Home Administrator:

  • Gives clear directions, explains reasons for decisions, and solicits employee input to maximize group capabilities.
  • Reflects problem solving skills, which diagnose problems quickly, and recommends or implements effective solutions.
  • Prioritizes multiple tasks to assure appropriate actions are initiated when needed.

Organize the functions of departments through appropriate delegation of duties with support from the Licensed Nursing Home Administrator:

  • Establishes formal means of accountability from those to whom the administrator has assigned duties.
  • Responsible for admissions, social services, and clinical departments.
  • Communicates with Directors and collaborates with Campus Administrator for culinary, maintenance, and therapeutic recreation.
  • Regularly schedules interdepartmental and departmental meetings to maintain communication and cooperation between team members.

Supports strong census at transitional care unit with support of Campus Administrator and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator:

  • Monitors the maintenance of referral database, follow-up, and census records.
  • Monitors customer satisfaction and follow through plans.

Plan, develop and direct new and enhanced health care programs:

  • Assesses residents’ needs periodically to revise and enhance current resident programs.
  • Participates in and delegates portion of the new program development to the nursing staff member with the most expertise in that area.
  • Effectively plans, directs, and implements comprehensive health care programs. This includes but is not limited to, staff placement consistent with scope of practice, medication management program and monitoring, resident safety and staff development, antibiotic stewardship, and infection control.

Provide ongoing leadership, and oversite of the nursing department Assists with Hiring of Nursing staff:

  • Serve as facility supervisor when assigned and assumes administrative responsibilities.
  • Oversees delivery of services provided by nursing care providers.
  • Oversees nursing staff hiring, coaching, training, and compliance.
  • Oversees the scheduling of all nursing staff.
  • Coordinates work flow and positions for efficient and effective nursing care of residents.
  • Develops expectations with nursing staff and holds them accountable to their job responsibilities.
  • Provides on-going professional development of leadership team.
  • Ensures staff compliance with all pertinent regulations and Ebenezer policies and procedures.
  • Ensures on-going education training programs for nursing staff are consistent with applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Active participation in nursing disciplinary actions.

Supports Financial Excellence:

  • Participates with managers to manage, track, and review financials and budget regularly.
  • Monitors monthly financial performance and makes correcting operational adjustments as necessary.
  • Oversees the staffing department to ensure efficient and effective use of staffing resources.
  • Monitors overtime and implements plans to correct patterns or excess use.

Support relationships between nursing and medical director:

  • Consults with medical director relative to resident care policies and concerns.

Stays current regarding long-term care trends and state/federal regulations:

  • Attends outside seminars focusing on current long-term care issues and regulations.
  • Communicates new information to nursing staff.

Represents Ebenezer Society to the external community:

  • Working relationships with Fairview system.
  • Attend Fairview meetings as assigned and participate as indicated.

Support relationship between vendors and the nursing department:

  • Consults with vendors related to resident care needs, quality of product and industry standard.

Performs other duties as assigned and directed:

  • Ensures meetings and programs are resident centered and meet regulatory compliance. This includes but not limited to; IDT, Rehab rounds, Antibiotic Stewardship, QAPI.
  • Reviews customer service survey per facility.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate Degree - Registered Nurse (RN)
  • RN Licensure/Registered with the MN Board of Nursing
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross; accepted certifications as follows
    • AHA: BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program or BLS Provider - BLS Instructor.
    • American Red Cross: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and/or Healthcare Providers, Life Guarding First Aid/CPR/AED
  • One to three years experience

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree (BSN)
  • ANACC Certification in Gerontology
  • MN Nursing Home Administrator License
  • Three to five years
