Eaton is Hiring a Remote Office 365 Platform Engineering Specialist

Eaton’s Information Technology division is currently seeking an O365 Platform Engineering Specialist to join our team. This position can be based at any of the Eaton U.S. Facilities listed above. The position is eligible for a hybrid work setup.

Position Overview:

We are transforming to a Product Centric Organization utilizing Agile practices to help us work more incrementally and fluidly, allowing us to respond more quickly to changing business needs. We are currently seeking a O365 Platform Engineering Specialist to join our Infrastructure Services value chain. The candidate can be based out of any Eaton facility within the United States.

The position requires a highly technical professional who will be part of Global O365 Platform organization and has in-depth knowledge of entire O365 suite of applications. This role is responsible for processes, standards, governance, and performance of the O365 platform. This includes identifying processes and procedures required to properly monitor, maintain, upgrade, or troubleshoot our O365 and Exchange environments (online & on premise). The primary responsibility of this role requires alignment and participation on enterprise-wide projects as well as managing incidents and requests via IT ticketing system. This position is also responsible for providing inputs to design standards, roadmaps and leads the team through critical issue resolutions and training. The position will identify technology trends and make recommendations for improvement to the overall system design and support model while expected to work closely with management team.

This position provides Solution Design, Service and Support across Eaton Corporation’s Enterprise O365 platform including Global Administration, Tenant Management, Active Directory, Azure Cloud Connect, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.

In this function you will:

  • Providing input as a subject matter expert to platform and system design, development, and implementation.
  • Leading overall effort and works with resources across functions to deliver technology platform, and system solutions to meet customer requirements, providing solution options, making recommendation, and highlighting operational or security risks, as well as providing alternative options.
  • Defining standards for technologies, platforms, and systems to meet organization requirements.
  • Leading lifecycle management activities for technology, platform, systems, and related documentation to ensure operational health and security.
  • Monitoring technology, platform, and systems to ensure required performance, availability, and capacity. Identifying and eliminating gaps in monitoring and potential impact on service delivery.
  • Following industry best practices to maximize quality and efficiency.
  • Consistently utilizing key ITIL processes to solve complex cross platform infrastructure issues with in-depth troubleshooting approach and provide most feasible options and recommend best solutions to specified problem including RCA.
  • Leading and performing all aspects of O365 Global Tenant and Exchange administration, security, performance-monitoring, tuning, scripting, roles/access, and maintenance of all production systems
  • Responsibility of responding to incidents and requests where clients are having issues with O365 Platform, Licensing, Teams, Exchange Online, Exchange on premise following ITIL (as required).
  • Providing thought leadership and hands on support to the governance process, release management, peer reviews, and promote standards across our technical teams. Participating in projects to evolve or implement the new features of the O365 platform.
  • Collaborating with other technical experts in O365 and Unified Communications space to determine standards, governance, administrative controls, and policies to make Eaton's O365 platform secure.
  • Working on complex problems where analysis of situations requires in-depth root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Identifying, researching, and keeping apprised of emerging cloud technologies, solutions, strategies, and developments with the goal of identifying opportunities for their use.
  • Introducing industry relevant best practices and improvement opportunities to improve efficiency and proficiency of team. This also includes the responsibility to train new team members that join our team.
  • Acting as a focal point for organizing a technical team to drive resolution to a complex problem and communicating status as needed.
  • Engaging with vendors to understand technology trends and impact on our environment and providing feedback to appropriate stakeholders including management.
  • Generating clear and concise documentation in the form of Knowledge Base (KB), process documents, Engineering Standards, FAQ, technical tips etc. Also establishing processes and documentation for End Users, Service Desk and other support groups as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively with and provide guidance to other members of the team.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Microsoft Technology domain including O365/Exchange.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience within the Information Technology function.
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the US on a continuous basis without company sponsorship
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee
  • No relocation is provided. Only candidates that reside within a 50-mile radius will be considered. Active-duty military is exempt from the geographical mile limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience of Microsoft O365 suite of applications including Teams, Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint etc.
  • Experience in Office 365 tenant management, configuration, and policies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP), Data Loss Prevention, Domain management, Email Encryption, Retention Policies, Audit logs.
  • Experience with O365 License management, preferably E5.
  • Experience with end point management & security using ActiveSync, Intune, WorkspaceOne.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams global administration, 3rd party app integrations, Teams Team/Channel management, dashboarding etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of PowerShell and Graph API.
  • Microsoft 365 Certified Enterprise Administrator expert certification preferred.
