A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER

As a School Social Worker with our nonprofit, you play an essential role in participating as a member of our admissions team and completing important social service assessments. You develop and maintain our master problem list and social work treatment plans, as well as identify appropriate short- and long-term social service goals for clients. As defined by each client's treatment plan, you carry out behavior management programs, social work assessments, counseling, and referrals. You also update the master treatment plan based on the changes made to the master problem list and treatment plans.

Additionally, you assist clients, families, and team members with discharge and long-term planning. You participate in all relevant interdisciplinary case conferences and educate team members on specific psychosocial issues that may be impacting a client's treatment plan. As needed, you establish rapport with families and caregiver support systems with client consent as well as facilitate family meetings. To maximize independent living, you educate clients on relevant social, economic, and mental health concerns in both individual and group settings.

You also facilitate educational groups and establish a positive working relationship with inter- and intra-agency sources. No matter what, you always ensure to follow professional ethical practices and maintain documentation as defined by our nonprofit's manual and our funding sources. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER

• Master's degree in social work
• 2 years of experience providing social work services to the respective community
• Ability to function as an integral member of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team
• A genuine interest in working with clients to help them through their rehabilitative and psychosocial treatment process
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

A valid LCSW or LMSW license is preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills?
