MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR A SCHOOL COUNSELOR * Licensed in psychology, social work, or mental health counseling * 2 years of experience providing counseling to families and play therapy with young children * Ability to function as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team * Covid-19 vaccination OUR IDEAL SCHOOL COUNSELOR We are looking for someone who can build relationships and collaborate well with others in our nonprofit. THE DAY TO DAY FOR A SCHOOL COUNSELOR As a School Counselor at our summer camp, you are a valuable member of the evaluation team and you provide comprehensive counseling services for our campers. You conduct school histories with parents or guardians, complete social service assessments, participate in developing treatment plans, and identify appropriate short- and long-term social service goals. With this information, you develop and carry out behavior management programs, conduct play therapy or counseling services, and provide social work assessments and referrals. You also make sure to keep master treatment plans updated. You build rapport with families and caregivers as well as provide recommendations in all relevant interdisciplinary team conferences. Assisting campers, families, and your team members, you create short-term plans. You educate your team members about specific psychosocial issues that may impact treatment plans. Your support covers relevant social, economic, and mental health concerns. You facilitate educational or parent groups and help with family meetings. You maintain positive working relationships with both inter- and intra-agency sources. Conscientiously, you uphold professional ethics, follow policies and procedures, and continually develop your skills.
