Here at Easterseals MORC we're looking for a Team Support Specialist to join the team in Southfield. In this position, you'll:

1. Demonstrates the ability to engage consumers in a welcoming, hopeful, empathetic manner regardless of disability or phase of recovery.

2. Provides excellent and attentive customer service.

3. Checks consumers in and out for services and manages the flow of patients and other patrons in the office.

4. Upon check-in, obtains patient blood pressure, height, weight and other required vital signs and enter results into the patient record in the EHR.

5. Checks for and/or obtains prior authorizations (internal authorizations) for clinic services. Ensures authorization for services is available for scheduled appointments.

6. Updates patient account with new and/or changed demographic or financial information.

7. Answers and triages internal and external telephone calls. Conducts initial screening of consumers and other patrons to determine the nature of requests or problems, takes messages, refers to the appropriate parties and performs related customer service activities representing the program to the general public.

8. Schedules/changes clinic appointments, as needed. Conducts follow-up “reminder/confirmation” phone calls to minimize “no shows” and missed appointments.

9. Prepares patient charts prior to scheduled appointments, when applicable.

10. Schedules multilanguage and Deaf C.A.N. interpreters in preparation for upcoming clinic appointments, as needed.

10. Assists clinic disciplines with various process needs, i.e., Enhanced Pharmacy, Prescription Process, Consent for Psychotropic Medications, etc., as needed.

11. Assists with insurance verification when needed

12. Answers both general and specific inquiries regarding departmental procedures, some of which may require detailed interpretation of departmental policies and procedures.

13. Operates a variety of office machines, such as personal computers, scanners, copy machines, and calculators.

14.Reserves and prepares clinic “Exam Rooms” and Treatment Rooms”, upon request, to ensure availability of rooms for scheduled appointments/meeting, prevents “overbooking”, etc.

14. Ensures that paperwork is maintained in accordance with Medicaid and Department of Community Health guidelines, as well as Easterseals MORC policies and procedures.

15. General scanning of Team paperwork.

16. Collaborates on special Team projects as assigned.

17. Full compliance with mandatory training requirements.

18. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care.

19. Willingness to support and assist consumers with trauma related issues.

20.May serve in the role of a “Scribe” and accompany psychiatrist during scheduled appointments to accurately document the details of the encounter and all pertinent information into the patient record in the EHR. (This would occur in a specialized role only.)

21. Takes patient payments during check in or out or via phone call, (if applicable).

22. Calculates Ability to Pay (ATP) financial information; enters the financial information in the EHR system and forwards the information to the Billing Department, (if applicable).23. Assists patients with basic questions about their bill such as balance due, etc. and transferring more complicated issues to the billing team. (if applicable).
