PURPOSE

Functions

The Level II Project Coordinator will provide project management assistance for assigned tasks and serve as a liaison between multiple trades and disciplines including, but not limited to: Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Logistics, Planning, Production Control, and Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.

  • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors supplementing internal resources for projects as assigned by the Hull Manager.
  • Provide administrative and analytical metrics to the Hull Managers by preparing project forecasting, tracking, and evaluation mechanisms, and maintaining compliance with government regulations. Prepare status reports as required.
  • Responsible for maintaining a strong, two-way, communication channel between all teams, stakeholders, and leadership. Understand the vessel construction process and key stakeholders. Relate known or potential issues to identify, understand, and proactively address challenges to avoid cost/schedule/quality impacts.
  • Drive processes that ensure company policies are followed, encouraging consistency and efficiency on the project. Work with Production Supervisors, Leads, and Superintendents to determine production needs and remove roadblocks to avoid schedule, quality, and cost impacts.
  • Brief ship status and issues to Project/Hull Managers and other Team Members as assigned.
  • Ensure that Production Weekly Plans are being followed and are on schedule.
  • Responsible for managing material and subcontractor requisitions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:High school diploma or GED equivalent, 3-5 years of shipbuilding experience, and Navy, Coast Guard, Maritime Schools, or Academies background desired. 4-6 years of relevant construction experience may also be considered. Basic knowledge of Earned Value techniques, knowledge of ship terminology, safety, OSHA regulations, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) naval vessel rules (NVR) requirements highly preferred. Entry-level ability to read prints and interpret industry technical manuals is also desired.

Skills: Intermediate-level Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook experience. Requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, general business periodicals, professional documents, Company policies/procedures, and governmental regulations. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior employees, management, and government officials. Ability to rapidly obtain, sort, and filter large volumes of data for distillation into high-level reports. The ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with employees at all levels and the ability to multi-task. Ability to work both independently and as part of the project team with the ability to exercise diplomacy and tact.

Shipyard/Industrial 75% and Office 25%

This job will operate in multiple environments, including a professional office environment, and Shipboard during the production, outfit, test, and delivery phases of each Ship. The employee must be able to work in a ship production environment, including climbing, entering tanks and voids, etc., in all weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
