Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Assemble, install, repair and maintain pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing equipment used for water, heating, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. Work with other tradesmen and crafts as instructed by supervision.

• Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Comply with Company, federal, state, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations and policies while performing duties.
• Perform all plumbing repairs, replacements, and installations.
• Maintain and install plumbing systems.
• Opening and cleaning clogged drainpipes and traps.
• Installing and replacing plumbing fixtures.
• Repairing broken pipes, valves, and water leaks.
• Run piping such as Plastic (PVC), copper, and steel.
• Troubleshoot and repair of pump systems.
• Using hand tools and power tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Requirements

processes and techniques used in measuring, fitting, and tack welding. Requires working knowledge of PVC and copper piping and pipe fittings such as elbows, tees, and DWV fittings, etc. Required to pass Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) welding test to become ABS certified. Knowledge of and ship terminology, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards desired.

Skills: Ability to read and comprehend written, verbal, or diagram form or plans. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to read and understand blueprints and lay out work. Ability to determine different sizes of pipe and fittings (take out). Knowledge of safe operation and use of hand and power tools. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Ability to read a tape measure and use a cutting torch.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be physically and medically qualified to wear all required personal protective equipment, as prescribed under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. The employee must be able to work above ground at heights of a minimum of 50 feet aloft and/or working from scaffolding and/or man-lifts while working with machinery; in confined spaces and withstand extreme heat and cold in an outside climate or confined space.
