POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for design calculations and drawing development as it pertains to each vessel. Coordinate updates/changes with affected departments, crafts, and project managers, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.

• Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Provide engineering support for the design and development of marine vessels.
• Function as a project engineer, design and oversee design for the construction and repair of marine craft and floating structures such as ships, barges, and tugs.
• Review designs and calculations to find potential construction issues.
• Interact with the crafts when issues arise and use engineering knowledge and experience to properly research or calculate the correct solution.
• Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
• Inspect, evaluate, and arrange field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or systems malfunctions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Skills: Intermediate to advanced level AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Express. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, government officials, and the public. Must have accurate written and verbal communication skills to carry out and understand assignments, and/or convey or exchange routine information. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a team player.
