Job Description

Functions

Work with the C5ISR I&T Lead along with C5 I&T Manager to ensure all systems tests and validations are fully accomplished on the Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) program, in support of schedule, cost, and performance requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.

  • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Entry level test position that will support, assist, perform, and can learn shipboard system testing.
  • Support the C5ISR Integration & Testing Manager and Integration & Testing Leads in the execution of a robust total ship test program including, but not limited to, the duties associated with test processes and procedures for all systems areas, including interfaces to other Shipboard Systems, including Controls. Assist and perform with compiling data for test reports for shipboard testing.
  • Shall be able to work as an entry level test specialist for assigned systems, and ability to assist the production team through the installation check-out, grooming, and system operation of assigned systems. Be able to assist with the proper operation of equipment and systems to USCG and INSURV.
  • Work with Production, QA, Engineering, and Test to assist and perform with 100% corrective actions within the assigned areas, are done for taking all trial cards and deficiencies in test and QA and correcting them in hulls under construction.
  • Support the C5ISR Integration & Testing Manager and Integration and Testing Leads to de-conflict competing priorities during all Testing and Activation projects to deliver results within financial and schedule specifications.
  • Support the C5ISR Integration & Testing Manager and Integration and Testing Leads during trials Readiness Reviews within assigned area.
  • Support the C5ISR Integration & Testing Manager and Integration and Testing Leads during Pre and Post Sea Trials meetings within the assigned area.
  • Assist and perform general shipboard labor requirements such as getting supplies or tools in the execution of testing requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.

Reporting Relationship

  • This position will report to the C5ISR I&T Manager.
Job Requirements

Qualifications

Education/Experience: Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent. One year or more shipboard experience in shipboard testing, performing test validation and compiling data is preferred but not required. Civilian or Military experience in the C5ISR field will also be considered. Experience with one of the following disciplines: Navigation Systems, Exterior Communication Systems, Weapons Systems, Information Systems or Combat Systems/Operations Systems preferred. Previous ship construction and test, or USCG/USN Service, with shipboard mechanical and electrical experience, preferred but not required. Experience developing test procedures using ABS NVR highly desired. Must be able to quickly understand basic system operation, and integration with C5ISR systems. Must be able to understand troubleshooting procedures and provide solutions. Experience with integration of a test program into Program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), starting with design through fabrication, construction, and delivery preferred.

Skills: Beginner to Intermediate-level Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook experience. Working knowledge of various web-based design and collaboration tools desired. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Company policies/procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to interpret contract requirements, specifications, and drawings into a comprehensive test program. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and have attention to detail. Ability to work as part of the project team while exercising diplomacy and tact. Ability to rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze data for distillation into high-level reports.

This job will operate in multiple environments, including a professional office environment, and Shipboard during the production, outfit, test, and delivery phases of each Ship. Employee must be able to work in a ship production environment, including climbing, entering tanks and voids, etc., in all weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
