The primary purpose of the Resident Support Specialist position is to provide direct care to the offenders who are in the custody of the Eastern Ohio Correction Center, and to provide them with a safe, secure, and healthy environment. This position involves teaching and counseling criminal offenders on daily living skills, personal hygiene, and social skills. Additionally, the Resident Support Specialist plans and facilitates group activities both on and off-site, transports offenders to and from activities, medical appointments, community service work sites, and employment sites. Finally, the Resident Support Specialist monitors the offender’s behavior, and all aspects of daily living by the offender, and records this information.
