Maintenance Technician

Title of Position : Maintenance Technician

Bargaining Unit / Salary Range : MSEA Support Services; Starting Salary Range 12 ($17.06 per hour).

Job Summary : Duties require knowledge of maintenance and monitoring of plumbing, heating ventilation, air conditioning, electrical systems and fixtures, knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work and knowledge of precautions necessary to safeguard property and equipment.

Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written directions, and adhere to college policies, procedures, equipment specifications, established work schedules and safety and health guidelines in the performance of job duties.

Sufficient physical strength to perform a variety of manual tasks in the care, cleaning and maintenance of buildings and equipment is essential in performing the duties of this job.

Completes outside grounds keeping duties such as sweeping and cleaning walkways and entrances, mowing lawns, removing snow and ice to keep outside premises in an orderly and safe condition.

Knowledge and experience across all facilities trades preferred.

Minimum Qualifications : Vocational and technical training and certifications, up to and including two years' experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • This position may involve training, assigning, and supervising a limited number of students and / or contract helpers in performing routine cleaning duties.
  • OSHA compliance, materials handling, records, disposition, and coordination with Supervisor.
  • Make decisions around safety-emergency situations and when responding to a maintenance call, whether to repair or replace.
  • Judgements on how to activate operating systems in the facilities.
  • Ensures safe and clean environment, performing general custodial care.
