Summer Camp - $350.00 per week stipend, plus room and board (6 nights per week)

Are you a psychology, social work, physical/speech/occupational therapy, nursing, or other related student looking to gain experience working with children and adults with disabilities? Do you need practicum hours or hands-on experience for your major? Consider being a Camp Counselor with Easterseals Florida Camp Challenge!! Our fully accessible camp provides children and adults with disabilities and special needs a getaway filled with laughter, friendship and fun! Our camp counselors are a big part of making that happen.

We are currently seeking energetic, motivated and creative individuals to fill our camp counselor positions for our Summer Camps. As a camp counselor, you assist campers in recreational activities such as sports, nature, the challenge course, arts and crafts, swimming, talent night, and making s'mores at campfires. Additionally, you assist with the personal care needs of some of our campers, such as assisting with meals, bathing, dressing, toileting, sensory needs, and helping manage difficult behaviors. Below is the upcoming weekly summer camp schedule. Since we know committing to the full 8 weeks can be difficult due to school and family schedules, starting with summer 2023, you can select the summer weeks you are available.

Summer Camp Schedule

• June 4 to June 10, 2023 (staff training week)
• June 11 to June 17, 2023
• June 18 to June 24, 2023
• June 25 to July 1, 2023
• July 2 to July 8, 2023
• July 9 to July 15, 2023
• July 16 to July 22, 2023
• July 23 to July 29, 2023

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, and great communication skills
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Compassion, energy, and creativity skills
• Ability to assist in the physical care of our campers including lifting and transferring
• CPR and First Aid are preferred, but training will be provided
• Ability to work as a member of a team
• Being ready and able to work one of the hardest, yet one of the most rewarding, jobs in your life
