FOOD SERVICE DIRECTOR

Non-Classified

Job Function: Performs technical work relating to the purchases and warehousing supplies, equipment, materials and services for the District: prepares specifications bids; reviews and processes submitted bids, and does related work consistent with the job description. Supervise workers engaged in preparing and serving balanced meals to students of USD #368. Serves students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and warmth.

Essential Functions:

1. Plan quality menus for all grades with nutrition information, incorporating time-saving production techniques, effective marketing, and nutrition education activities.

2. Promotes students and staff satisfaction by marketing and serving meals in an attractive manner.

3. Plans, schedules and work assignments, trains, supervise, and evaluates food service staff.

4. Secure prices quotations through correspondence, personal contact with vendors.

5. Determines purchases that require bids and prepares correspondence necessary to obtain bids. .

6. Purchases and keeps adequate supply of food and oversees storage and issuance of supplies.

7. Review invoices, checking for accurate billing and approve for payment, initiate and prepare financial adjustments. Send invoices to the business office..

8. Ability to grasp, list and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 50 pounds.

9. Ability to convey a positive and professional image to visitors, employees, and students.

10. Demonstrates communication skills with the ability to work effectively with others.

11. Hire personnel for all positions.

12. Assures that sanitation and safety practices meet established standards.

13. Have ready for all schools at end of month Daily Income Records, Breakfast Form 217-305 and Lunch Form 217-105. Check all forms when return from schools. Send in to Business Office. Put all information on computer.

14. Review and check Free and Reduced applications.

15. Maintain a system of accountability.

16. Reports damaged goods and shorted orders.

17. Involves students, staff, and community in school food service activities.

18. Assumes responsibility for receiving, storing, handling, preparing, and serving of food according to established standards.

19. Directs the preparation and serving of meals for special functions and community activities

20. Cost out the meals for special functions.

21. Manages the program in accordance with federal and state requirements.

22. Implements and individual professional growth plan.

23. Supervises the recording of all requisitions from the storeroom.

24. Performs related functions as required by her supervisor.

25. Weekly remove carts on Sunday afternoon from freezer to cooler or to snack bar area to be ready to use on Monday morning.

Technical Skills and/or Abilities:

Individual must possess these knowledge’s, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combinations of skills and abilities.

1. Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate all food preparation equipment including, but not limited to:

kitchen utensils, stoves, ovens, combi-ovens, mixers, and cleaning equipment.

2. Ability to process, categorize, and file information and forms in accordance with district procedures.

3. Ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 50 pounds.

4. Requires standing, sitting, and / or walking to perform job duties.

5. Work frequently involves lifting heavy kitchen item, standing and / or walking, squatting, reaching, stooping, pushing, and /or pulling.

6. Ability to convey a positive and professional image to visitor, employees, and students.

7. Demonstrate communication skills with the ability to work effectively with others.

Qualifications:

1. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any their combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. College degree preferred, with emphasis in sanitation, safety, technical training and management training.

2. One year job experience in child nutrition.

3. KSFSA and ASFSA membership required.

4. Requires significant amount of time standing, walking carrying and grasping.

5. Sitting, 55%, standing, walking, carrying grasping pulling and pushing, 45%.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
