Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. The Dental Assistant will work closely with the dentist and dental hygienist to provide high-quality dental care to our patients. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about dentistry and patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring cleanliness and proper sterilization of instruments
- Assist the dentist during procedures by handing them instruments, suctioning, and providing support as needed
- Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays)
- Perform dental charting and documentation in electronic medical records systems such as Epic
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient records
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment, ordering new supplies as needed
- Follow strict aseptic techniques to prevent the spread of infection
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth workflow and efficient patient care
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or relevant work experience
- Current certification in CPR
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments
- Proficiency in using dental software systems such as Eaglesoft for appointment scheduling, billing, and record management
- Familiarity with medical coding for dental procedures
- Experience with medical imaging and digital radiography techniques
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with medical documentation requirements and HIPAA regulations
