Job Summary: This leadership position offers an exciting opportunity to drive growth, manage a dedicated team, and contribute to the continued success of Gerber Wood Products. This position monitors and controls the flow of resources to increase production, sales, and profits. They are responsible for using technology to make improvements to increase profits and for planning new facilities to keep up with growing needs. This position exists to provide operational oversight of the GWP business division and reports to the President.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Overall Operational Oversight:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the entire business division, ensuring the achievement of operational goals and financial targets.
  • Develop and execute short-term and long-term business plans to drive growth, maximize profitability, and enhance market competitiveness
  • Continuously monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement
2. Manufacturing Expertise:
  • Utilize your knowledge of wood manufacturing processes and operations to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement LEAN manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence and quality assurance to deliver products that meet or exceed customer expectations
3. Marketing and Sales Leadership:
  • Develop and implement effective marketing and sales strategies to drive revenue growth and expand market share.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify new business opportunities, build strong customer relationships, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor market trends, conduct market research, and identify new product development opportunities to meet evolving customer demands.
4. People Management and Leadership:
  • Lead and inspire a team of approximately 30 employees, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Work closely with the Plant Manager, Purchasing Manager, Administrative Manager, Continuous Improvement Specialist, Maintenance & Repair Specialist, Front Shop Supervisor, President, and Owners.
  • Collaborates with the HR Specialist to recruit, develop, and retain top talent, providing coaching, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to drive individual and team success.
5. Financial and Operational Performance:
  • Oversee the financial performance of the business division, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Ensure effective cost management, resource allocation, and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the accounting department to prepare accurate financial reports and provide insights to support decision-making.
6. Safety Compliance:
  • Collaborates with the HR Specialist for OSHA compliance
  • Chairs the GWP Safety Committee
Credentials, Education, and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience in a senior management role overseeing manufacturing operations, preferably in the wood component industry.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of wood manufacturing processes, quality control, and cost management.
  • Proficiency in LEAN manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success in driving business growth, sales expansion, and market development.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a diverse team.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to analyze financial data and make sound business judgments.
  • Knowledge & understanding of wood species and milling capabilities a plus.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills along with excellent customer service techniques.
  • Highly dependable, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Robust computer skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Work with office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc…
