Job Description:
TRIO/SSS is a federal grant focused on providing support services to students from underrepresented populations, including low-income, first generation college students, disabled students and academically underprepared. The Student Success Coach will be responsible for working closely with the project director in carrying out the activities of the program and facilitating the success of program participants.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
  • Meet individually with program students weekly for coaching sessions.
  • Provide assessment data to program director as needed.
  • Administer and interpret non-cognitive assessment tools.
  • Work with students to develop individualized pathways to success.
  • Assist in the selection and certification of program applicants.
  • Conduct workshops and presentations for student participants.
  • Participate in all program and college related activities as requested by program director.
Requirements:
The ideal candidates experience includes:
  • Experience with special populations in higher education. Community College experience preferred.
  • Formal training and/or work experience in promoting persistence and graduation for at risk college populations.
  • Knowledge of the barriers to post-secondary education faced by low income, first generation students or students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge and experience in academic and non-cognitive strategies to support student success of at risk populations.
  • Knowledge of career and transfer advising techniques.
  • Ability to contribute to the completion of annual performance reports.
  • Excellent written and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of professional standards in higher education.
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have succeeded in overcoming circumstances similar to the target population.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred) in counseling, social work, psychology, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
Additional Information:
Salary Range and Classification
$34.41 - $39.98 per hour and Part-time NTE
This is a temporary, part-time position up to 25 hours per week with a contract period of 04/01/24 - 08/31/24.
