Job Description:
This is a temporary, grant-funded position.
The CSTEP Coordinator will be instrumental in ensuring the program meets its standardized objectives for preparation and retention of CSTEP students. The incumbent will assist the CSTEP Director in providing program services designed to meet grant objectives.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
  • Establish and manage the office's strategic and assessment plan including the development of student learning outcomes.
  • Develop and implement activities, programs, and services for students eligible for the CSTEP. Develop and implement appropriate interventions for CSTEP students such as academic workshops, personal and professional seminars, cultural events, faculty/professional mentoring interventions, community service activities.
  • Provide one-on-one academic advisement to CSTEP students. Review students' academic progress and special needs and devise intervention strategies; consult with faculty, Academic, Career and Transfer (ACT) center staff, and other College staff and administrators regarding strategies for at-risk students.
  • Make all provisions for student travel. Accompany students as warranted to; collaborate with other campus offices and departments regarding effective delivery of student development interventions. Collect, organize and analyze data on current students and program graduates.
  • Maintain accurate auditable records and produce annual retention and other reports. A strong ability to meet all deadlines for the submission of all reports is required. Assist the Director with the preparation of reports for New York State and the College.
  • Identify and ensure regular participation in professional development activities.
  • Remain current on relevant literature related to student development research and effective interventions for retention and graduation of historically underrepresented and academically underprepared students in higher education.
  • Manage student workers and related work matters.
  • Assist with the collection of information and other required materials during students' recruitment and collect CSTEP students' research application materials.
  • Assist with recruitment including but not limited to: orientations, campus events, and off campus events
  • Provide assessment data to program Director as needed.
  • Oversee and manage CSTEP properties, including the distribution of items from the lending library.
  • Complete requisitions for purchase services and maintain inventory of Purchase Orders.
  • Participate in all program and college related activities as requested by CSTEP Director.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in a higher education/student services environment;
  • considerable experience working with a diverse student population in a counseling or academic advising role;
  • knowledge and understanding of the mission, goals and objectives of higher education opportunity programs;
  • strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the college to prospective students, families and public constituencies;
  • a valid New York state driver's license and driving record acceptable to the College are required.
  • Experience working with the state and/or federal grant reporting, ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or weekend hours, strong ability to follow guidelines and meet strict deadlines.
Preferred qualification:
  • A master's degree, preferably in higher education or a field of study that enhances the individual's ability to assist students as an Academic Advisor.
  • Three or more years of experience working in the role of academic advisor for a diverse student population.
  • Experience working with students in a Community College environment.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time temporary grant-funded position with a funding cycle expected to end on 06/30/2025. This grant is eligible for renewal on 07/01/2025.
Working conditions:
  • The performance of this work is in-person and on-site.
  • Flexible hours required.
  • Some travel will be necessary

Class: DUE/Full-time Non-teaching Educator
Salary Range: $57,946 - $59,557
