Summary

Performs difficult skilled technical work supervising the work of the Data Processing Housing Specialists who are engaged in coordinating the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program housing annual re-examinations, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Essential Functions

Monitors and coordinates the work of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program Data Processing Housing Specialists who are engaged in coordinating annual re-examinations, interim re-examinations, and requests for relocations; establishes lead times and schedules to ensure compliance with established guidelines and policies and timely completion of required tasks; updates client files of all tasks completed.

Supervises and schedules work of staff; interviews, makes hiring recommendations, and trains employees; assigns work and monitors progress; develops employees’ skills and encourages growth and development; addresses personnel issues in conjunction with appropriate leadership in Human Resources.

Troubleshoots special cases; investigates facts to provide recommendations and resolves disputes with landlords and program participants.

Reviews files to make investigative referrals of possible HCV Program abuse.

Provides procedures for caseload management and customer service.

Participates in interviews and termination hearings.

Prepares and submits regular and special reports for management as requested.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree with coursework in public administration, business administration, sociology, psychology, or related field and 4 years of experience working with a Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8), and two (2) years supervisory experience is required. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Special Requirements

Housing Choice Voucher Specialist within one year of employment.

Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
