Durham County is Hiring a Plant maintenance technician Near Durham, NC
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Work includes, but is not limited to :
- Performs preventative, and reactive maintenance on equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, compressors, sensors, telemetry equipment, ultraviolet light disinfection equipment, flow meters, and generators.
- Maintains work orders, equipment logs and other documentation.
- Maintains a safe workplace.
- Assists in monitoring pump stations.
- Assists on sewer line spills.
- Performs various electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and painting tasks as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- General knowledge of the use of hand and power tools
- General knowledge of lift stations
- General knowledge of safety procedures
- General knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and regulations related to wastewater treatment and collection system
- Skill in planning, organizing and prioritizing work.
- Skill in the use of a computer
- Skill in oral and written communication and the ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school and three years of experience in municipal wastewater maintenance, or industrial maintenance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated with an acceptable three (3) year driving record.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Required to work a rotating on-call schedule.
