Durham Academy is Hiring an US Mandarin Chinese Teacher Near Durham, NC

Durham Academy (DA) is accepting applications for a Part Time Upper School Mandarin Chinese Teacher to begin in August 2024. We seek a candidate who is familiar with the ACTFL Standards of proficiency and teaching and assessing the four skills in the three modes of communication. The successful candidate will have a degree in Language Education or related field and an Advanced Mid or above in Mandarin OPI; master’s degree or commensurate experience preferred.

Additionally, preference will be given to candidates with:
  • A minimum of three years of experience teaching Chinese at the secondary level
  • Experience teaching high school students in a proficiency-centered language program.
  • Ability to teach Upper School Chinese Language and Culture courses that range from Novice to Intermediate High instructional levels

Durham Academy is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory school serving students in grades Pre-kindergarten through 12. Enrollment for 2018-2019 school year is 1,228 students.
