Durham Academy is Hiring a Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach Near Durham, NC
- In-Season (early August through late October)
- Run tryouts and team selection
- Plan and execute effective practices
- Create and execute game strategy
- Drive a minibus to all road games
- Communicate regularly with student-athletes and their families through email about logistics and updates
- Work as a team with all coaches in the field hockey program and DA Athletics trainers, staff, administration and faculty
- Summer and Off-Season
- Coordinate and implement off-season workouts and strength training sessions for the entire field hockey program
- Attend professional development clinics and camps
- Administrative
- Work with the Athletic Director to build a competitive and balanced non-conference schedule
- Collaborate with the AD to hire, evaluate and support members of the field hockey coaching staff for all teams in the program
- Adhere to the newly established Varsity Head Coach Job Description which outlines all expectations for our Varsity Head Coaches
- Significant experience leading high-performing scholastic field hockey teams and/or programs
- A commitment to providing a safe, healthy, joyful environment for practice and play
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An ability and eagerness to maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all members of the school community (student-athletes, families, alumni, teachers, administrators and fellow coaches)
- The ability to build relationships and keep an open dialogue with coaches about any qualified student-athletes interested in playing at the collegiate level
- The ability to lead student-athletes with competitive energy and formative care

Durham Academy is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory school serving students in grades Pre-kindergarten through 12. Enrollment for 2018-2019 school year is 1,228 students.
