Durham Academy is Hiring an Extended Day Support Teacher Near Durham, NC

Durham Academy (DA) is accepting applications for a part-time Extended Day Support Teacher (Monday-Friday/2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.) for the 2023-2024 academic school year. The successful candidate will have experience working with students ages 4 through 10 or experience working in an elementary school setting.
The Extended Day Support Teacher will be responsible for addressing the social and emotional needs of students. The Teacher will work closely with the Extended Day faculty to develop the most effective means of meeting these needs. This position reports to the Director of Extended Day and will start as soon as possible.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Serve as a point of contact for students exhibiting emotional difficulties.
  • Meet with students individually and in groups for social, emotional, and educational support.
  • Ability to collaborate with DA’s Extended Day teachers, Learning Specialist, Counselors, and families.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A very high level of energy, creativity, flexibility, and sense of humor.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Extended Day Director.

Durham Academy is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory school serving students in grades Pre-kindergarten through 12. Enrollment for 2018-2019 school year is 1,228 students.
