Durango Coca-Cola Bottling Co. is Hiring a Lead Merchandiser Near Farmington, NM

Overview: In this role, you will be the key point person leading the effort for merchandising and product stocking and supporting the area merchandisers and sales team of Durango Coca-Cola. As the face of the Company to our local customers you will be responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction and promoting our product portfolio by keeping beverage sections, displays, coolers and all points of availability properly stocked and according to Coca-Cola of Durango standards.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, scheduled vacations, and disciplinary action of the Merchandisers as supported by the District Sales Manager
  • Responsible for scheduling the merchandising routes and all account activity requiring merchandising. This position may be assigned a regular merchandising route and fill in for vacationing or sick Merchandisers, as well as other Sales team members
  • Responsible for properly ordering our products, rotation of our products, and securing displays to align with the store’s display planner and our LOS
  • Build and maintain relationships with each store’s management team, and understand the terminology and layout of each store’s display planner
  • Complete weekly RED surveys
  • Support Sales team with other assigned duties as necessary, which may include resets and surveys
  • Provide relief sales of assigned accounts as needed
  • Follow Company safety guidelines and always comply with safe working procedures
  • Maintain auto insurance, mileage reporting, and servicing of vehicle per the Company Vehicle Use Policy, whether operating a Company provided vehicle or a personally owned vehicle


Additional:

  • The role will travel to various customer sites, as a result each environment will vary.
  • Extensive regional day travel is required with this role.
  • To accomplish tasks, the position will need to work around a variety of weather environments (i.e. sun, rain, sleet, rain, snow, excessive cold & heat).
  • This position is very active and requires constant standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and spend their time both on the customer floor and in their back room(s). As a result, they should expect a fast-paced production environment and willfrequently lift and/or move items up to 65 pounds. (Moving equipment and tools will be provided to reduce strains and injury.)
  • The role is expected to be able to lift and carry 65 lbs. repetitively. Must be able to lift weight above shoulders and below waist. Must be able to push and pull a manual pallet jack with a pallet of product on level and sloped surfaces moving pallets weighing up to 2,600 lbs. Must be able to push and pull beverage carts weighing up to 1,000 lbs. on level and sloped surfaces.
  • The role will have occasional to frequent twisting, grasping, reaching, bending, kneeling, sitting, stooping, crouching, crawling, and will be required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work hours: 5:00am – 7:00am start until routes are complete, Monday through Friday (Start times may vary slightly according to route assignment.)More than 40 hours per week may be required to complete the assigned job duties on various weeks.
  • Additional or alternative days/times may be occasionally needed, depending on customer and/or promotional campaign including holidays.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 2 years of college or the equivalent in Direct Store Delivery work experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license (no major traffic violations and no more than 2 minor violations in the last 3 years)
  • Team-player attitude
  • Ability to perform essential functions of position with little or no supervision
  • Regular, punctual, and consistent attendance is an essential job function
  • Must maintain professional appearance with customers which upholds Durango Coca-Cola’s brand image
  • Successful track record of building strong business relationships within the marketplace and exceptional customer relations skills required, with the ability to defuse customer disputes creating a win-win outcome
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and the sales team members
