The DuPont Clinic is a referral center for all-trimester abortion and ultrasound-guided procedures, including for abnormal or high risk pregnancies, and for people with complex medical situations who may have difficulty accessing care. We provide the highest level of medical care and a private experience focused on the individual needs of each patient. The Patient Care Guide (PCG) serves as an integral part of the team, creating a supportive patient experience and ensuring patient safety. PCGs provide unique and extremely valuable care for patients while working in conjunction with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and nurses. The PCG will report directly to the Associate Manager, Patient Care. The PCG provides critical informational, emotional, and physical support for patients during their procedures and recovery, as well as assisting clinicians and administrative staff with clinic operations.
The hours for this position are variable four days a week (Mon-Thurs or Tues-Fri), depending on the clinic schedule. PCGs are expected to work about 32 hours a week, with some late nights and on-call 1-2 weeks in the month.
Essential Duties:
Providing trauma-informed patient-centered care by offering physical and emotional support to patients before, during, and after their abortion procedures
Utilizing Quickbase EMR to input patient information; review and upload patient charts
Supporting and monitoring patients through recovery including taking vital signs and conducting bleeding checks with oversight from nurses and providers
Communicating effectively with all members of the patient-care team, with Slack, Google Meet, and in-person
Assisting and providing ultrasound guidance for procedures after appropriate training
Setting up the clinic in the morning and shutting down at the end of day
Collaborating with the operations team with maintenance of the clinic when time allows, including laundry, restocking, bringing in orders, etc.
Actively demonstrate, promote, and support a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion by upholding principles of reproductive justice
Participating in staff meetings and training

Qualifications:
Required
: Bilingual fluency in Spanish
Strong commitment to a person's bodily autonomy
Flexibility with scheduling
Patient-focused with a strong sense of empathy and holding space for others
Active listening skills
Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with team members.
Commitment to providing accurate information in a compassionate manner to all people, regardless of their circumstance (substance use, mental health, current or past traumatic experiences, interpersonal violence, etc.)
Preferred:
Obstetrical, birth, postpartum, miscarriage, or abortion doula experience (strongly preferred)
Medical assistant experience or experience working in medical settings
Experience in counseling, social work, and/or mental health/substance abuse programs
Knowledge of the political landscape involving abortion care
Previous experience in abortion care or reproductive health (strongly preferred)
Work Environment:
Be available to be on overnight call 1-2 times a month for 3-4 days at time
This position requires the ability to work under stress and in a fast paced environment
The position is subject to hazards: including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to mechanical parts and chemicals including odors.
The worker at times is required to wear a facemask, gown, and/or gloves.
The position has a likelihood of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials,
The position may require moderate lifting.

Salary: $25/hour
Benefits package includes: health insurance, a retirement plan (with a company contribution starting the first of the quarter after 6 months of employment), periodic bonuses, paid time off, and 10 paid holidays.
