DuPage County Health Department is Hiring a Medicaid Benefit Specialist II/Bilingual Spanish Near Page, IL

The DuPage County Health Department is looking for a new team member to join us as a Medicaid Benefit Specialist II. In this role, you will be assisting clients in a hospital or community setting apply for and obtain healthcare coverage, assisting with linkage to healthcare services and providing healthcare education.
This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM.
This position will work out of Central DuPage Hospital several days per week, the balance of the week would be spent working from home or at our Central Public Health Center located in Wheaton, IL.
We are seeking a bi-lingual, in Spanish, candidate that is passionate about helping the residents of DuPage County. 
This Full-Time position offers a full, DuPage County, benefit package which includes 12 paid holidays, 2 weeks of paid vacation per year and paid sick time and personal time off. This is also a pension eligible position and offers eligibility for the Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program as well as tuition reimbursement.   • Collects demographic and financial information from clients.
  • Completes income assessments to determine eligibility for public benefits, healthcare coverage and/or financial assistance.
  • Completes and files applications for healthcare coverage or other financial support for healthcare access, such as Medicaid, Marketplace.
  • Local access to care programs, food assistance programs, and hospital financial assistance.
  • Follows individual client application status through to resolution.
  • Performs outreach to clients who have recently obtained insurance benefits in order to support utilization of those benefits.
  • Provides culturally competent education on common health insurance and health care topics.
  • Motivates clients to be actively engaged in their healthcare needs.
  • Enlists involvement from family members and caregivers, when applicable, to support client needs.
  • Refers clients to other Health Department, County or local services as necessary.
  • Interacts with insurance companies or state agencies on behalf of clients.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work within multiple electronic systems and medical records.
  • Identifies and helps address access to care barriers.
  • Conduct assessment(s) to identify client social and medical needs.
  • Conducts outreach at community events.
  • Provides community-based presentations and education.
  • Performs concurrent documentation through the input of required information into the electronic medical record(s).
  • Maintains accurate and compliant case files.
  • Adheres to established productivity expectations.
  • Maintains professional relationships with co-workers and external partners in order to provide quality services to clients.
  • Demonstrates independent judgment and discretion in making position related decisions.
  • Participates in emergency activities as assigned.
  • Maintains required training, licensure and/or certification.
  • Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to client privacy laws; demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of other ethnic groups and cultures; adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree and one year of experience in a social service or healthcare setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Attendance at paid on site HR new hire orientation at our Central Public Health Center is required. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, third-party insurance, public and private resources and other community benefits; working skill in providing good customer service through the use of active listening, empathy, problem-solving, patience and communication. Knowledge of Health Department services and policies; good knowledge of internal agency financial policies; knowledge of healthcare industry financial processes and policies.
Considerable skill developing positive and professional relationships with internal and external customers; considerable skill in understanding and evaluating benefit eligibility and related processes; working skill in understanding the problems, needs and motivations of clients; working skill in initiating client outreach; working skill in exercising sound judgment in adherence with professional standards; working skill maintaining accurate records in compliance with applicable regulations; working skill in entering information into an electronic medical record; working skill in verbal and written communication; working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment; Develops and maintains positive, respectful and professional relationships with internal and external customers. Supports, adapts or delivers services in a manner which ensures understanding and inclusion of diverse client populations. Demonstrates an understanding of the agency definition of Integrated Care.
