POSITION SUMMARY

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Water/Wastewater Maintenance Worker within the DuPage County Stormwater Department located at the Marionbrook Underground Facility at 17W440 N. Frontage Rd., Darien, IL 60561.
This position is included in the Bargaining Unit of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include:

• Performs landscaping and site maintenance for open space owned and managed by the department
• Maintains, installs, troubleshoots, rebuilds, and repairs and replaces various Stormwater Management equipment (e.g. landscape equipment, small motors and pumps, etc.)
• Ensures the operations of the stormwater facilities and drainage systems to the public
• Removes stream blockages and debris jams
• Flushes, televises, and repairs storm sewer systems
• Maintains and repairs Stormwater facilities and assists with the department's construction and excavation projects
• Operates heavy equipment (e.g. dump trucks, skid loaders, front end loaders, vactor trucks, etc.)
• Holds integral role in construction of in-house drainage and stormwater improvement projects
• Ensures jobs are completed in a cautious, safe and orderly manner
• Orders parts and fills out material requests
• Repairs lift stations and responds to emergencies with occasional assistance to the public works department (e.g. water main breaks, sewer back-ups, lift stations problems, etc.)
• Supervises summer help on lawn maintenance, painting, cleaning and related work
• Trains employees in lower level maintenance positions

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Three (3) years of specialized experience in preventative and corrective maintenance, wastewater and water collection distribution systems and treatment plant knowledge, equipment maintenance
• One (1) year of lead worker responsibilities
• Required to obtain an Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with an air brakes and tanker endorsement within six (6) months of hire.
