Occupational SummaryWe are looking for a Lab Analyst I who will join the enthusiastic team of researchers supporting collaborative scientific efforts in search for novel biomarkers for aging and age-related diseases. The candidate will conduct tissue culture of cell lines and primary cells from humans. The position involves research related to molecular model characterization and preclinical testing. The candidate should present a strong understanding of basic cell biology, have an interest in translational research, present strong work ethic skills, be both dedicated and highly motivated. Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, interest in reading pertinent scientific literature related to the project, and ability to assist with grant submissions.
Work Performed
  • Directly responds to supervising Scientist and Principal Investigator
  • Processes primary human tissue material for research model generation
  • Independently performs cell culture processes
  • Executes experiments independently, including but not limited to RNA extraction and RT-PCR, protein extraction and Western blot, immunofluorescence imaging, flow cytometry
  • Analyzes data using image J, FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, etc.
  • Highly motivated to explore new technologies, such as ultracentrifugation, transmission
Electron microscope.
  • Follows, develops, and improves established protocols or procedures
  • Enters and validates data
  • Maintains detailed records regarding cell culture maintenance
  • Controls reagents stock inventories
  • Prepares data for publication or presentation at national/international symposia
  • Attends team meetings
  • Provides weekly and monthly metrics and documented experimental summary on project
progress to supervisors
  • Carefully follows laboratory safety procedures and perform experiments in compliance with
research safety standards
  • Attends training sessions relevant to job roles as needed
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum QualificationsEducation
Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.
ExperienceWork requires twoyears of research experience. A related master's OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.
