Duke University is Hiring a Director of Athletics Compliance Near Durham, NC

Position Summary:

Duke Athletics is seeking a qualified individual for the Director of Athletics Compliance position. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and is responsible for education, monitoring, and enforcement of all ACC and NCAA rules, including but not limited to rules related to amateurism, recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, awards and extra benefits, and playing and practice seasons.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee continuing and transfer eligibility certification process, including coordination with University Registrar and academic support staff.
  • Provide updates to internal constituents on NCAA governance and new legislation.
  • Manage day-to-day NCAA rules education and monitoring efforts.
  • Provide rules interpretations to coaches, staff, student-athletes, and others, as warranted.
  • In association with the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance, serve as liaison to the FAR on issues related to proposed ACC and NCAA legislation.
  • Investigate potential violations; draft violation reports and reinstatement requests, as warranted.
  • Draft eligibility, student-athlete reinstatement, and legislative relief waivers and appeals.
  • Coordinate name, image, and likeness educational programming and monitoring efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability, Expectations:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum five years of experience in intercollegiate athletics, preferably at the Division I level.
  • Proven effective management of multiple related areas.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to successfully communicate with coaches, athletics department staff, and donors.
  • Experience with common athletics compliance software (e.g., CA, LSDBi, RSRO, ARMS).
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
