The Role

Cypress Creek Renewables is seeking a seasoned leader for our Director of NERC Compliance role with a proven track record to join our growing team. This role will play a critical part in ensuring all our owned and operated assets are compliant to NERC CIP standards. The ideal candidate will have both a strong background in NERC CIP compliance and a solid understanding of utility scale solar facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead (not just manage) a small team of dedicated compliance professionals
  • Independently drive end to end planning, coordination, auditing, and execution of our NERC compliance monitoring activities (693 and CIP) for both CCR-owned and 3rd party maintained assets
  • Wing to wing owner of CCR NERC CIP compliance activities
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability assessments of our control center and operational assets including monitoring and self reporting of any non-compliance to internal policies and external requirements
  • Own onboarding compliance readiness efforts and required reporting
  • Provide regulatory and technical assistance to internal Asset Managers and 3rd party customers
  • Refine and Drive all NERC Compliance related KPI's
  • Provide technical support for incident response and recovery efforts.
  • Participate in audits and assessments related to NERC CIP compliance.

Reporting Relationships and Interactions:

  • Will report to the Senior Director of Monitoring, Performance, and Operations
  • Will work closely with the Director – Control Center, Operations Engineers, and Regional Field Directors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7 years of demonstrated direct experience in NERC Program leadership experience (693 and CIP).
  • 3 years of experience in power plant operations and/or design is highly preferred
  • 3 years of managing direct reports (or equivalent experience)

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering, Business, or other relevant discipline
  • Strong Program Management and Interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrates superior knowledge of NERC CIP standards and requirements.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems (ICS) and SCADA systems.
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools and practices for OT environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certifications such as Sec , CISSP, CISA, or CISM are a plus.

Travel: up to 25% travel in US

Location(s): Durham, NC strongly preferred, however alternate locations such as Asheville, NC or East Coast Remote DOE for the qualified candidate and at the business' discretion are an option.
