Duke University is Hiring a Data Manager Near Durham, NC

The LaBar lab at Duke University seeks a talented data analyst to facilitate data management and statistical analysis of human subjects research on the cognitive neuroscience of emotion. The position is supported by an NIH-funded grant on neurocomputational approaches to emotion representation in the brain. State-of-the-art facilities include multimodal psychophysiology and research-dedicated 3T MRI scanners at Duke’s Brain Imaging and Analysis Center. This position will involve development of data workflows using machine learning algorithms and other computational tools, processing large, complex data sets by interfacing with the Duke Compute Cluster, database management, data documentation, coordination of data across on- and off-site registries, and statistical analysis of behavioral, fMRI and psychophysiological data.
The position is initially for a one-year term but is renewable, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued grant support.
Main Responsibilities
  • Developing and testing data workflows for behavioral, neuroimaging, and psychophysiological data using machine learning and other computational modeling tools
  • Processing large data sets through the Duke Compute Cluster interface
  • Maintaining data integrity and documentation; requires regular maintenance of databases, developing data dictionaries, and updating relevant data and scripting repositories
  • Writing a standard operating procedure manual for the analyses
  • Conducting statistical analyses on behavioral, psychophysiological, and neuroimaging data on emotion induction studies and on related existing databases
  • Disseminating results from the analyses at scientific conferences and publications
  • Managing the lab website and digital reference libraries

Preferred Education And Experience Include
  • B. S. in Data Science, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Statistics or related computational fields
  • Expertise in machine learning analysis of human psychological or neuroscience data
Minimum QualificationsEducation
Work requires an Associates in Computer Science or equivalent technical training, or non-technical Bachelor degree.
Experience2 years data management, research or medical experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
