ABOUT THE SUMMER INTERNSHIP: Duck Creek's Summer Internship program is from May 22, 2023 - August 11, 2023. The program is intended for current students taking coursework in related fields to gain practical work experience in their area of study. Our engaging intern program includes opportunities to connect with company leaders, partner with peer interns on a summer capstone project, all while advancing skillsets related to outlined project based work. WHAT WE WILL CALL THIS POSITION: Software Engineering Intern WHAT YOU’LL DO: The Software Engineering Intern will design, code, and/or configure solutions for low complexity Agile stories, as well as debugging and resolving low software bugs or issues under close guidance and direction. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Designs, codes, and/or configures solutions for low complexity Agile stories based on high-level conceptual designs and with reviews provided by more senior software engineers. Debugs and resolves low complexity software bugs or issues, with guidance from more senior software engineers, and finds the real root cause and provides a fix without collateral damage. Writes automated unit and integration-level tests with guidance from other team members. Follows development standards and demonstrates technical solutions to other software engineers in code reviews. Performs source code management tasks at the direction of more senior developers. Develops the understanding of Duck Creek Policy or Billing or Claims or Engagement (AP) or Data Insights Develops the understanding on estimating the Software Product Development Lifecycle with Agile methodology WHAT YOU’VE DONE: In the process of attaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Sciences, and/or related field No work experience is necessary, but is a plus if within the software industry Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: Understands Object-oriented design, Java or .NET development, Relational OLTP queries and Relational database design Understanding automated testing frameworks like Cucumber, SpecFlow, etc. (preferred not required) Understands JavaScript development, HTML5 & CSS (preferred not required) WHAT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION YOU MAY WANT TO KNOW: Other Important skillsets: Ability to manage deadlines, communicate in a team, and operate independently with guidance Travel: 0-10% (Remote first but if located near the Boston, Bolivar or Rosemont Office meeting in-person with the team may be possible) Work Authorization: Legally authorized to work in the country of the job location.
