COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT SUMMER INTERN

JOB DESCRIPTION
 
TITLE: Summer Intern
INTERNSHIP: May/June – mid-August, 2023; Approx. 20 Hrs/week
JOB STATUS: Hourly - Pay rate: $15/hr
REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Alumni & Media Relations
DEPARTMENT: Communications/Public Information
 
POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Dublin City Schools Summer Internship Program is designed for current college
students majoring in Digital/Social Media, Photography, Communications, Public Relations,Graphic Design, or Visual Communications. We are seeking students who are interested in gaining experience in these fields and wish to explore their career opportunities.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Assists with social media management and content creation.
  • Build a stock photography portfolio for our department to use when designing catalogs/newsletters/website.
  • Assists with various forms of communication including digital media, web media, social media posts, visual marketing and content for print.
  • Tracking and reporting on social media analytics.
  • Assists with coordinating and planning district related events.
  • Assists with video editing and graphic design.
  • Assists with the editing and management of the district website.
  • Assists with data entry within the alumni database.
  • Assists with duties and responsibilities in Alumni Relations.
  • Photograph events, facilities, and activities representative of student learning.
THE INTERN WILL:
  • Gain experience working with a professional communications department within a large, publicly funded organization.
  • Learn the relationship between strategy and content creation.
  • Learn the relationship between communication/public relations and education (school funding, community partnerships, etc.).
  • Understand audience targeting.
  • Gain experience in branding and strategic communications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Skills in Buffer - social media management system
  • Adobe Creative Cloud, including PhotoShop, InDesign and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of web Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • Experience with digital photography and videography, including using equipment to capture high-quality stock content.
  • Must be a team player; willing to go out and work independently at buildings throughout the district.
