Summary

The Lead A&P Mechanic reports to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for aircraft Maintenance and Modification support. The Lead A&P Mechanic will ensure all aircraft Maintenance and Modification is performed in compliance with FAA, manufacturers, and company requirements and will provide guidance and leadership over the A&P functions of the department and have authority over the A&P Mechanic Team for the accomplishment of immediate company goals.

Essential Functions

  1. Fully analyzes all required blueprints, drawings, work orders and sketches to troubleshoot, repair and install desired product or part. Detects errors and corrects through proper departmental channels. 
  2. Professionally trains and leads other employees in proper work techniques. 
  3. Assist the shop with meeting schedule needs to make on-time delivery of the aircraft to support missions.
  4. Inspects all aircraft parts for damage, prior to installation.
  5. Accurately estimates hours and materials for scheduled jobs.
  6. Works effectively with engineering in recommending design enhancements and productivity improvements.
  7. Operates all required ground support equipment. Reports supply and equipment needs in a timely manner.
  8. Oversees shop equipment condition and maintenance.
  9. Effectively troubleshoots and repairs all aircraft and customer systems.
  10. Provide assistance, guidance and direction to all maintenance technicians.
  11. Oversee the maintenance performed by any individual unfamiliar with the methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment and tools used.
  12. Ensure that any forms completed by maintenance technicians are accomplished in accordance with the instructions provided in Appendix A of this manual.
  13. Ensure that the appropriate technical personnel accomplish all identified work order inspection items.
  14. Ensure that completed work order packages are submitted to the Inspector for final disposition.
  15. Ensure that the facility in maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
  16. Prompt and regular attendance.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are primarily Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a one hour unpaid lunch. However, evening and weekend shifts may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

CONUS and OCONUS travel is required. As requested by the customer, travel can be for extended durations which includes overnight stays outside of the normal working location.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Minimum ten years of aircraft-related experience or have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform all job tasks.
  • Extensive knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions. Thorough working knowledge of all current FAA regulations, IPC and ATA codes.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Prior project management experience.
  • Prior training experience on aircraft mechanical systems.
  • Inspection Authorization Endorsement.

Other Hiring Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass a background investigation.
  • Must pass a DOT/FAA regulated drug screening.
  • Must be able to obtain a passport.
  • Effective Leadership.
