Path Medical is seeking a Full-time Medical Records Specialist

Job Summary: This position is responsible for collaborating and assisting with the work flow and tasks assigned to medical records staff. The medical records specialist assists with the compilation and maintenance of medical records of patients, in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an extremely busy, high volume, multi-specialty physician's office
  • Experience working with an Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology
  • Scheduling of mediations, depositions for doctors in the practice
  • Representing company as Medical Records Custodian as needed
  • Ability to multi-task and to prioritize
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Must have a good work ethic and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Professional appearance and demeanor a plus
  • Energetic

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Min 2 years experience with Medical records required

Principal Duties and Essential Functions:

  • Maintain complete and accurate medical records
  • Maintain, secure, store, and keep confidential all medical records and information
  • Assist the office in complying with all pertinent Federal and/or State requirements
  • Prepare, assemble, and audit medical records information in accordance with the office's medical record policies and procedures
  • Accumulate, process, preserve, retrieve, and control distribution of patient's records.
  • Coordinate the exchange of patient's medical records information and records among agencies, necessary, according to policy
  • Answer record correspondence, subpoenas, court orders, and patient requests for information from other third parties, according to policy
  • Consult with the medical staff on matters regarding technical and administrative aspects of medical records service procedures, policies and methods
  • Maintain an orderly, confidential, and safe work environment
  • Attend all required seminars and in-services
  • Attend and participate in meetings as assigned
  • Performs other duties, as may be required
