Summary (Major Purpose of the Role): The Logistics Intern plays a vital role in conducting essential analytics for the Logistics Department, while also aiding in coordinating shipments for inbound and outbound goods. This internship spans 12 weeks on a full-time basis, requiring applicants to dedicate 40 hours per week.

Main Activities/Responsibilities:

• Assists in the management of traffic of containers imported and exported.
• Assists to the analytical support of the group, including existing reporting and developing new reporting
• Performs track & trace activities on shipments worldwide through use of internet, visibility systems, ERP and TMS as well as other visibility platforms for all modes of transportation
• Assists in the financial analytics used to measure the departmental performance
• Assists in the daily operation of a transportation department. 
• Assists to place bookings for cargo freight movement for any/all International movement.
• Monitor and respond to emails regarding all international and domestic transportation needs received personally or in group email mailboxes and distribution lists.
• Acts as liaison and communicate with service providers and operations to ensure that critical delivery parameters are met. 
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

 Competencies:

• Must have excellent organizational skills. 
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
• Must be able to handle information in a confidential and ethical manner.
• Demonstrated PC aptitude including the use of Microsoft office applications, TMS, websites, ERP systems and other tools.
• Ability to creatively solve problems as needed. 
• Ability to work in a faced paced environment with large volume and critical delivery parameters. 
• Ability to handle a high volume of inquiries per day from multiple sources – purchasing, operations, sales, customer service, etc.
• Must have strong time management skills and pay great attention to details. 
• Ability to formulate question and investigate issues without direct guidance.

 Reporting Relationships and Supervision:

• This position reports to the Director of Logistics

 Education and Experience:

• Currently enrolled in a 4-year university or graduate program.
• Desire to continue to grow and learn.
• Experience with SAP preferred.
