Electrical Foreman (Industrial)

Overview

The Electrical Foreman is a hands-on leadership role, working closely alongside a crew of electricians to oversee and coordinate industrial electrical projects. This position plays a critical role in ensuring efficient and safe execution of tasks, managing and guiding the crew to successfully complete electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance. The Foreman Electrician demonstrates technical expertise, strong organizational skills, and effective communication to drive project success while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and work alongside electrical crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, ensuring work is completed efficiently, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Plan and coordinate daily work activities, assign tasks, and provide clear instructions to crew members, while optimizing productivity and resource allocation.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and ladder diagrams to guide crew members in accurate installations and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, regulations, and safety guidelines, promoting a culture of safety and consistently enforcing best practices.
  • Collaborate with project management to review project scope, specifications, and schedules, ensuring successful project execution.
  • Monitor project progress, quality, and performance, addressing any issues or challenges that arise to maintain project objectives.
  • Participate in the selection, training, and development of crew members, fostering their growth and contributing to a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Effectively communicate with other trades, superintendents, and stakeholders to coordinate work and resolve conflicts.
  • Manage inventory, equipment, and tools, ensuring proper maintenance and availability for project needs.
  • Document project activities, including daily logs, progress reports, and any changes to scope or conditions.
  • Promote a positive work environment, emphasizing teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to company values.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as an industrial electrician, with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Thorough expertise of electrical systems, codes, and regulations, as they apply in water, wastewater, and hazardous environments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, ladder diagrams, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in using tools, equipment, and technology related to electrical work.
  • Commitment to safety and the ability to enforce safety protocols.
  • Experience in managing and leading teams is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements

  • Demonstrated capability to execute a wide range of physical movements, encompassing bending, stooping, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Proficiency in lifting objects exceeding 50 lbs, adeptly handling substantial electrical equipment and materials such as light fixtures, wires, conduits, junction boxes, motors, and related items.
  • Skilled in working at varying heights utilizing tools such as A-Frames, extension ladders, boom lifts, scaffolds, and aerial work platforms.
  • Competence in performing trenching and excavation tasks as required.
  • Keen visual acuity (normal or corrected) and ability to accurately discern and differentiate wire colors.
  • Strong capability to stand for extended durations, approximately 90% of the workday.
  • Adeptness in transporting materials between locations or across different levels.
  • Proficiency in handling tools above head level for various tasks.
