Our Company culture will make you feel right at home.A Brief OverviewThis is a seasonal position that will work within all areas of the plant depending on need to provide support. This is an introductory level position that will work in the CHPP, Yard Area, and Coal Handling Facility. The employee holding this position is expected to be working toward an education/career path related to boiler operations, process controls, heat distribution, or mechanical or electrical engineering. The position is responsible for performing any combination of a variety of manual tasks associated with the operation of duties affiliated with the CHPP and system maintenance. Assignments include unloading and storing material in the CHPP, assisting higher level operators, and assisting maintenance personnel in maintaining CHPP equipment and machinery. The position will normally work alongside the Operations or Maintenance crews. The employee may also be required to perform expediting duties in support of the CHPP operations.

Responsibilities

What you will do

• 1. Perform primarily labor related duties in support of the CHPP operating or maintenance crews.
• 2. Maintain all areas of the plant by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning or painting.
• 3. Assist CHPP maintenance personnel in basic maintenance tasks under direction and supervision of a more experienced maintenance person.
• 4. Gain experience and qualifications to progress toward receiving certification(s) related to boiler operations, controls, or mechanical or electrical engineering.

Conditions of EmploymentMust pass a pre-employment drug test, random drug test thereafter in accordance with the published policy of Doyon Utilities. Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska. Must be eligible to work on a military installation in Alaska. Eligibility to work on a military installation includes compliance with Department of Defense mandates with respect to employee background and health directives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent Required
• Hands on knowledge or interest about machines, installation and use of tools and mechanical fittings.
• 2. Currently in pursuit of obtaining State of Alaska Boiler Operator certification, enrolled or will enroll in a vocational program related to the industry, or in pursuit of an electrical or mechanical engineering degree. Preferred
