Job DescriptionLove swimming? Like working with kids?Come be a swim instructor at the Downtown Berkeley YMCA and teach children how to be safe in, on, and around the water!NO CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED. We will train you. However, you must be able to demonstrate an ability to swim in shallow and deep water, and tread water (Minnow or ARC Level 4 Swimming Level).We are currently hiring part-time lifeguards and/or swim instructors. We are looking for adaptable, reliable, energetic individuals who can work 5-25 hours/week in a fast-paced, diverse environment.We are currently looking for swim instructor applicants with availability: Mon/Wed afternoons (4:00-7pm), T/TH afternoons (4:00-7pm), and/or Saturdays (9:45am-2:00pm).Minimum Qualifications:Must be at least 16 years of ageExcellent customer service skillsPatience and ability to communicate with members of all ages and backgroundsProfessional demeanor-punctual and consistentCompensation:$19.00-20.00/hour DOE On the job trainingFree YMCA membership!QualificationsMinimum Qualifications for Swim Instructors:Minimum of 16 years of ageCPR for the Professional Rescuer (within 30 days of hire)Standard First Aid (within 30 days of hire)Demonstrated ability to swim in shallow and deep water, and tread water (Minnow or ARC Level 4 Swimming Level)Additional InformationWe strive to build a staff team that reflects the broad diversity of our community.
