Position Overview

Dovetail Co is seeking a senior hotel acquisitions and asset management professional to become an integral part of the investment team and help drive Dovetail’s next wave of growth. The candidate will add value from sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, capital raising, closing and ongoing business plan optimization.

The position will report directly to Dovetail’s CEO and collaborate daily with development and operations. The candidate should have direct transaction experience and a track record of success and continuous improvement. The position is ideally based in NYC but can be remote for the right candidate.

Position Responsibilities

• Originate, underwrite, negotiate, and close operating, value-add, and new build hotel and experiential real estate investments.
• Oversee and drive the underwriting and due diligence of each transaction including financial modeling; market surveys; financial analysis and the creation of investment overviews.
• Work with legal counsel to negotiate purchase agreements, partnership agreements, loan documents, hotel management agreements and related legal documentation.
• Lead asset management of hotels and other investments, including investor reporting, major capital events (e.g., financings and refinancing), strategic asset-level business planning, and the eventual sale of each property.
• Develop and maintain financial models on existing assets using portfolio benchmarking and DCF models to track and review asset-level returns and performance.
• Consolidate, analyze and model financial data including budget analysis and income statement forecasting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Train, develop, and oversee investment analysts and associates.

Qualifications

• 7 years of commercial real estate including a minimum of 4 years of direct hotel acquisitions and asset management experience on the principal side
• A bachelor’s degree in hotel administration, finance, or business; MS/MBA a plus.
• Must have an owner’s mentality and act as a fiduciary for each asset and investment.
• Effective negotiator with demonstrated ability to achieve consensus.
• Sophisticated financial skills and capital markets perspective with ability to structure investments to achieve Company’s investment requirements.
• Impeccable integrity and trustworthiness.
• Strong network of contacts among owners, managers, brokers, financiers, and others active hotel investment professionals.
• Self-motivated and driven with the ability to take initiative, complete tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
• Willingness and ability to travel.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word.

Compensation

• Base salary and incentives will be commensurate with experience includes full benefits (e.g., health dental insurance)
