The CASA program is committed to providing high-quality advocacy services to abused and neglected youth in the child welfare and family court system.
The Lead CASA Volunteer Coordinator is the organization's face, and manages the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers with the goal of ensuring that abused and neglected children receive effective advocacy and permanency planning. Under the direction of the COO Director, performs recruiting, training, placement, and supervision of volunteers. Coordinates with the court system, partner agencies, and local organizations for the betterment of local foster children.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES:
EDUCATION AND SKILLS:
A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Human Services or a related field, plus one-year experience in child welfare services and volunteer management preferred. Computer and office machine experience required as well.
The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, as well as organize and prioritize work is necessary. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment is essential. Skill in handling detailed data/information with accuracy and confidentiality is required. Additionally, must be able to problem solve and work independently to successfully fulfill this job’s responsibilities.
This position will require regular travel within the service area with occasional evenings and/or weekend availability. Outside service travel requirements is approximately 4% of employment time. A good driving record and access to regular and reliable transportation is required. Insurance minimums must be met and maintained. Mileage is reimbursed with appropriate insurance coverage.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
The position may require lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs., walking, climbing, bending, sitting, stooping, kneeling, driving, prolonged visual concentration, and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard. There is a moderate degree of mental concentration pertaining to the job at hand. If assistance is needed, contact your supervisor.
