JOB SUMMARY:

The AmeriCorps Foster Grandparent Program Manager will develop and implement effective recruiting and staffing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified talent for the Foster Grandparent Program.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Recruits from a diverse pool of persons to become AmeriCorps Foster Grandparents.
  2. Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available roles and volunteer sites.
  3. Screens applications and selects qualified candidates
  4. Schedules interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials
  5. Communicates with candidates and program director and coordinator regularly throughout the process
  6. Attends and participates in community events and recruiting opportunities.
  7. Performs all other related work, as assigned or as apparent

NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Excellent organizational, time management, multitasking, and problem solving
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  3. Internet and software savvy
  4. Skilled in professional networking (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  5. Able to work closely with Program Director and Coordinators
  6. Familiarity with grant regulations regarding volunteer participation

EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

Associate Degree is preferred, or four years of sales and recruitment experience. Two to three years’ experience in program coordination, including collecting and tracking data and experience working with the over 55 population and/or volunteers. The ability to communicate effectively in both a written and verbal context, plan and organize work, take initiative, and maintain confidentiality is required to successfully fulfill this job’s responsibilities. Additionally, grant writing skills, as well as attention to detail are a plus.

SAFETY:

This position requires the employee to maintain attention to safety at all times. Compliance with all safety policies is a must. Individuals will be held accountable for any and all breeches of safety they are involved in.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

This position may require light lifting/carrying (40lbs.), the ability to move around in an office setting, bending, prolonged visual concentration and the ability to independently travel to various volunteer sites. Additionally, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard is needed. There is a high degree of mental concentration pertaining to the job at hand. The ability to communicate effectively in both a written and verbal context is necessary. Successful candidates must be able to present to a diverse audience in a manner that promotes general understanding of the topic at hand.
